These are the last of my shots of the 179th VKH Agricultural Fair. I took them in August, and I would have published them earlier, but the rights belonged to The Review [link], our local paper. That’s kind of the deal we have… they pay me to take photos, and I have to wait for two weeks before I can post them on Facebook or here on my blog.
…there you go, that’s the kind of backroom, insider information you’ll never get from other photo blogs.
These were taken on Sunday, the last day of the Fair… if you’re down with it, you can find my photos of the other days here [link] and here [link]. All of my Sunday shots appeared online on The Review’s website. And four of them, including one of the English-horse riders, and the cow-washing shot below, were published in the IRL version of The Review.
…mostly I use my 18mm-55mm lens when I’m shooting Events, which means I’m generally pretty close to the subject I’m shooting. I do have a 70mm-300mm lens, but I rarely use it. This time, for the tractors, I was shooting with the 18mm wide-angle setting, so I was only a few feet from them. I love being able to get so close to the action, whatever action it is. Which is why reporting, even if it’s just with a camera, is the best job in the world.
Maybe I should do a post with my old news shots…
Maybe. Anyway, if you’re into super-old tractors popping wheelies, click on an image to get the carousel going. Or not, no pressure.
