If I had access to anything agricultural-based, like, I don’t know, cows, a field, some grains, stuff like that, I’d definitely want my two sons to take part in the local 4H Association. It seems like a great way to meet people with similar interests and goals, and even learn some empathy for animals.
I haven’t joined many Clubs in my life… there was Cadets for a while, then high school soccer, and even high school basketball for about five minutes. I did, of course, start the VKH Amateur Photographers Club a bunch of years ago, but that fell apart because I got sick, and I haven’t gotten around to starting it up again.
I did try to join a Square Dancing Club [find them here] when we lived in nearby Dalkeith, it didn’t go well. I think I was twelve, maybe thirteen, when I tried joining. During one of our first group meetings — which included a girl I was attracted to, we were all sitting on the floor around a little table, and I felt a sneeze coming on but I managed to stifle it… and, of course, a giant snot bubble was left hanging from my nose. Anyway, it wasn’t a great look, and that was pretty much it for my square dancing career. Which was too bad.
The many ‘Prescott-Russell 4H Clubs’ [find their FB page here] in our region are kind of the original social networking platform, with local Boys & Girls 4H Clubs [information on joining] travelling all over Eastern Ontario, into Quebec, and even down into the Northeastern USofA. The Clubs spread information about animal rearing techniques, stuff about seeds, and, you know, introducing families to others with like-minded interests… and kind of, you know, introducing boys to girls, and maybe even girls to other girls, and boys to other boys, and new families would eventually be created. Basically, what I’m saying is, it was a kind of a dating service as well.
…just a heads up, there are two Photo Galleries below, so once you’re finished scrolling through one, just click on the next Gallery and you can see all the photos. Sorry about that, but apparently I managed to find the limit WordPress has for uploading photos into a single gallery.
So, yeah, if you’re into it, go ahead and click on the first photo to get the first carousel going. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking them… it’s good to be productive again.
…actually, while you’re here, I just wanted to quickly let you know that Comments are most welcome, and if it asks you for an email address, don’t worry I’ll never share it and neither will WordPress. It’s just meant to identify you if you ever comment again… which you should. It’s all very easy peasy lemon squeezy.
