When does a monument become a memorial? Right about… now. Vankleek Hill has a new high school, they opened it just before Christmas, 2010. These are the remnants of the old one, the one I went to, Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute. The experiences of high school are one thing, about those I have good and not-so-good memories of, but I never really cared about the building. There was this one great place, a staircase near the library, where you could sit and watch the mountains while you sucked back the cigarette you bummed off the janitorial staff.
