The mythical wood monster of Vankleek Hill

Vankleek Hill's monster wood

I mean, holy crap, right? I found this guy in the ever-shrinking thicket next to Vankleek Hill’s Arbor Gallery (Centre for Contemporary Art). The disregard some (re: most) people in Vankleek Hill have for trees is kind of depressing. Every year another stand of trees goes missing. Last year a farmer burned out a five to ten mile long and thirty foot wide strip of trees along the north-west section of Highway 417. Maybe he felt threatened, maybe he thought his fields needed the extra sunlight, I have no idea. This year, behind my girlfriend’s house, a 150-yard strip of trees just went missing. And none of them are being replaced. More trees, you dumbass, not less…
