…I have sooooooooooooooo many photos of Events in Hawkesbury, and especially in Vankleek Hill, from this past year that I have yet to post here on my Little (but mighty) Photo Blog, it’s just crazy, like, really crazy. Normally, I can take photos of an Event then select, edit, write a quick synopsis, and post the shots a week later. But this past year, mostly for health reasons, I haven’t been updating this blog. In late September I started feeling a little healthier, and since then I’ve posted eight times, including hundreds of photos from this summer’s Events in Vankleek Hill and Hawkesbury. So, things are looking up, but I still have so so so many posts to publish in order to catch up.
I recently bought another external hard drive, so I could protect all of my photos in case I have to get a whole new system… because Microsoft, the buggering buggers, is probably going to force me to update to Windows 11, that AI BS monstrosity, in 2026. I bought the external drive for about $200, and it’s giving me another 5TB of storage. I consolidated all of my photos from all my other devices, to one directory on the new hard drive, and then I had my perfectly fine Windows 10 non-AI BS PC count them… and, wow, I have taken 106,426 photos since 2007. Which, again, is just wow-crazy. Like, really wow-crazy. In contrast, I have ‘only’ uploaded 2,877 photos to this blog since I started in 2010.
…I guess I still have some work to do. so it’s a good thing the Internet is almost infinite in size.
I took these photos of the parade for the 181st Vankleek Hill Agricultural Fair waaaaaaaay back in August… which isn’t really that far back, I guess. I was taking photos as the Official Photographer for the Fair People, who paid me in tickets so my kids could enter the four-day Event for free. I was also working for The Review, our local English-language newspaper [their homepage], at the same time. I took more than 1,800 photos over the four days. From my count, I was at the VKH Fair for a total of 36-hours all together… or altogether… I think it’s ‘all together’, but feel free to correct me in the comments.
I’m pretty sure I have enough photos of the many, many Events during the VKH Fair alone for another eight or ten posts, of roughly 50-photos per post. So, it’s something for us all to look forward to over the next two, maybe three, months. You’re so welcome.
So… go ahead and click on the first photo to get the carousel going. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking them… it’s good to be productive again. I also want to quickly let you know that Comments are most welcome, and if it asks you for an email address, don’t worry we’ll never share it and neither will WordPress. It’s just meant to identify you if you ever comment again. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Dunno how I’d go about organizing all those photos. I have mere hundreds, not thousands, stored in the cloud, and already it seems too monumental a task to try to organize them in any way.

Hi Susan! Personally, I really do not like the Cloud for anything, especially organizing and accessing large amounts of files. If I started filing them today, it would take generations to sort through and properly archive my 106,000 images. Thankfully, when I set it up originally, I was able to do it in a way that has worked for me… I’ve been using the same archival method for 18-years, basically since I received my first digital camera waaaaay back in 2007. In the photo below, you’ll see exactly how I’ve done it…
Documents -> 001 Photos -> 000 000 years -> 012 2018 -> 07 July -> July 10-13 drO drama camp
…which would take you to these files from July 10-13 back in 2018:
If you can, open the image in a new tab, and you’ll see it clearly. Thanks for the comment, and the continued support, Susan.
