What do you do when 300 bikers come to town and start searching for places to park? Start by feeding them pizza and some hotdogs, get a little classic rock concert going, invite some friends, crack a few icy drinks, and let them raise some cash for the local hospital.
And that’s just what the organizers of ‘Bike Night in Hawkesbury’ did. The biker-friendly, and friendly-biker, mini-festival is in its fourth-year, and first in its new home — the large parking lot behind Pizza Pizza. It brought bikers from Grenville, Hawkesbury, as well as from Laval, Papineauville, and Gatineau, and featured the ‘Burn Out Boys’ [Facebook here] — a ‘Riding Club’ (RC) formed in 2008 that raises money for charities, and those in need, plus a local band called ‘John & Biz’… and that’s where things got a little weird.
…after taking a very very long hiatus to raise my two young boys, I’m back looking for gainful employment. Nothing special, just something to help pay for my kids’ 2% chocolate milk addiction, without killing off my Permanent Disability / ODSP benefits. Anyway, I’ve met with the counsellor at the Prescott-Russell Employment Centre (PREC), and she helped me to update my resumé. Then I met with the ODSP Specialist at the PREC and will be meeting with him in the next few days… but that’s only if he has full recovered from his stint as lead singer and backup guitarist as the ‘John’ in ‘John & Biz’ [Facebook page here].
That’s right, my Employment Counsellor belts out a pretty decent rendition of ‘Another Brick In The Wall – Part Two’ (“…we don’t need no education”) . Not as disturbing as when I found out my former psychiatrist’s ringtone was the theme from M*A*S*H… ‘Suicide Is Painless’ , but kind of close.
By the end of the night, the fist Bike Night of the summer raised almost $300 for the Hawkesbury General Hospital [donate here], and a lot of people had a lot of fun. The next one is on July 3.
…anyway, no matter what you ride, remember “four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul” [more cool quotes here]. To see the photos from the June 5, 2026 Event, just click on the first one to get the carousel going — comments are always welcome.
