In A Gadda Da Vida, Honey, Vankleek Hill Had An ‘Art In The Garden’ Event

…honestly, how long did it take you to realize that “In A Gadda Da Vida” — the 1968 song by ‘Iron Butterfly’, is ‘stoner speak’ for ‘In The Garden Of Eden’? I think I was in my early twenties — I actually owned the album… well, the CD anyways (featuring the original 17-minute drum solo) and it still took me a while. I don’t know what that has to do with anything, but now you know for sure.

(…there’s a YouTube right below, if you can’t see it, click here. It’s mostly worth it.)

This was Vankleek Hill’s second annual ‘Art In The Garden’ (AITG) Event. I’m sure there will be more. According to The Review [link] there were “more than 56” artists and artisans showing their work at the ‘2023 AITG’… it was organized by VKH’s ‘St. John’s Anglican Church’ — and there’s your God angle.

So, just in terms of vendor participation, this was a very successful Event. Attendance, at least for the two hours I was there, was pretty good as well. I’m not sure who sold what to whom, or for how much, but I did see a few artists actually selling their work. Which is always nice.

…this Event was actually waaay back in mid-August. Not sure how it got lost in my archives, it was probably my most successful Event with regards to how many photos I got into the paper. As you can see below, I had ten photos featured in The Review [link], including two on the Front Page. Funny how that worked out, considering all the dynamic Events I covered this summer.

…anyways. If you want to learn more about some of the very talented artists who took part, here you go: Shanna Steals [link], Marie-Eve Bergevin-Thompson & Annie Bergevin, Tina Hoare [link], Oleksandra Laskina [link & link], Garnet Millar [link], Sylvie Pilon [link], Susan Jephcott [link].

So… I guess now’s the point where you click on a photo to get the carousel going. Or not. Totally up to you.

ps: …I’m not saying Vankleek Hill is “In a gadda da vida”, but it’s pretty close.
