Sorry Jesus, Santa’s Back In Town… Updated With Photos From Christmases Past And Present

…well, that’s over.

Both of my kids still believe in Santa*… I know the general idea behind Christmas is still a celebration of the birth of Jesus [link] but, really, he’s not the one handing out wickedly tricked out crocs [link], or age-inappropriate Nintendo Switch games [link] on December 25th. Nobody is out there thanking the “Son of God” for the $100 gift certificate to Walmart wrapped up in a card with two dogs wearing red and white hats on the cover.

It’s not Jesus coming down the chimney and filling the stockings with chocolate. And he’s not the one deciding who’s been good or naughty. That’s all Santa, baby [link].

So exactly what, or who, are we celebrating?

It’s not even Nicholas the Wonderworker [link], the patron Saint of children and repentant thieves, who’s celebrated… it’s the Coca-Cola creation — the jolly, hefty, red-hat wearing, bearded dude with bad eyesight. Seriously, no one leaves out cookies and milk for the “Son of The Living God”, my kids leave out carrots for the reindeer, not the “Prince of Peace” [link].

…anyway. Merry Christmas. I guess.

*…Victor, my oldest son, is a little iffy on Santa now. I think he’s at the point where he feels that, if he admits to us that he doesn’t believe, he might not get any presents anymore.

(…there’s a YouTube right below, if you can’t see it, click here: [link]. It’s a classic Canadian tune, so you know it’s worth it.)

…one day in your life shouldn’t be a problem.

So… here are some of our Christmas memories. If you’re up for it, just click on a photo to get the carousel going.
