…officially this event is called the “Truck & Modified Tractor Pull & Show N’Shine”, only everywhere on their marketing it’s in all-caps. So, if you’re reading this, make sure you shout that part.

I’m not sure how long this event has been going on. The first one I attended, and took photos at, was back in 2019 [link]. One of my photos made it onto the front page of The Review [link], our local newspaper of record, I think four made it in the inside pages — three of the photos here made it into the paper this time, including one on the front page. The big difference between now and then is that now I think I’m doing it for free… The Review recently changed ownership, and new management doesn’t seem too keen to pay for photos. Not that I had been receiving a lot, but milk money is still money. Oh well.

The organizers of this event are pretty freaking cool, they let me get as close to the moving trucks and tractors as I want… 90% of the photos on this page were taken with a wide angle setting — I shot everything using my 18mm-55mm lens. I was literally a few feet away as they went by… I have to remember to bring ear-protection next time.

I had my own personal deadline while I was shooting. I couldn’t convince my kids to come with me, so my parents were babysitting which meant a time limit on what I could shoot. So I ended up leaving just as the last heat was starting, and I missed the turbo-diesel pickup trucks… and they’re generally the most photogenic.
