After a few years of no crowds due to the Pandemic, and sparse crowds because of post-Pandemic trepidation, this was the year where the crowds came back to Vankleek Hill. There’s still the Christmas Home Tour in November, and the Christmas Santa Claus Parade in December, but the ‘Festival Of Flavours’ (FoF) marks the unofficial end of festival season in Vankleek Hill… it’s the tenth large-scale Festival of this year’s summer, and brought another thousand people to our little village.
Including food from Vankleek Hill’s specialty restaurants like ‘The Broken Kettle’ and ‘the one-eleven main street eatery’, the FoF had food from Thailand, Sri Lanka, Jamaica, Tibet, India, Others, and local farmer’s had their local garlic, veggies, and fruits for sale as well — the Farmer’s Market was also open, and there was a Garlic Festival, both just a block away. The Arber (sic) Art Gallery was open with two new exhibits, the Champlain Library — which held a book and puzzle sale, and the Vankleek Hill Museum, were also open on Main Street.
…so it was a busy day.
…anyway, if you’re down with it, just click on a photo to get the carousel going. Mangia! Mangia!
